Spring Creek Trip
Join fellow chapter members on the first chapter trip of the season to the Drift-less area and the Spring Creeks of Southwestern Wisconsin. This unique geologic region includes high ridges, rich valleys and beautiful spring creeks all surrounded by rolling countryside. This area’s trout streams are among the most popular in the United States. We have a new location this year Vernon County……Vernon County's streams, rivers, creeks offer over 200 miles of terrific trout streams teeming with fish lying in wait for the taking. They include the Kickapoo, Wisconsin's "crookedest" river, the West Fork plus all its tributaries, two branches of the Bad AxeRiver, Coulee, Timber Coulee, Hornby, Coon Creek plus countless other all run through Vernon County. Local outfitters (The Driftless Angler) and guide services provide everything needed for fishing fun: boats, motors, tackle, fishing maps and tips on when, where, and how to catch fish.
Also remember that this is the early season, which means barb less hooks and catch and release. This is strictly enforced and several of us have been stopped and had our flies checked.

Sand County Trip
Waushara County has the unique distinction of originating all the trout streams flowing through it. The Mecan, Pine, White, West Branch of the White, Willow, Tagatz, Chaffee, Wedde, Soules Creek – these and many other crystal clear, pure streams contain naturally reproducing brookies and browns, and in some locations, naturally reproducing rainbows. Close by to the north you will also find the Tomorrow/ Waupaca river system, to the west, famous Lawrence Creek. The high quality environment of pine and tamarack, over principally sand substrate, is an esthetic delight that offers many many miles of public access to trout fishing that will challenge the best. The trout here have all completed post-doctoral research in differentiating artificial offerings from naturals, avoiding the artificial. This is some of the most demanding trout fishing in the Midwest.
