Join EDTU for our annual Spring Creeks Trip to Westby Wisconsin (just north of Viroqua, WI). Come
join fellow TU members for a weekend of fishing and fish stories, usually told at the Old Town Inn bar
after a hard day of fishing, a good meal and a few of your favorite drinks.
This trip is about connecting fellow anglers that have not fished in this area with some very
experienced anglers that visit the area frequently. When you message me please indicate if you would
like to take someone with you or if you have not been in the area much please let me know and we’ll get
you paired up.
Schedule:
- Arrive Friday - Some people fish on their way up to Westby. When you arrive,, check in to the
hotel, they will have your name and room. Most people will get dinner at the Inn across the street
and drinks in the bar.
- Saturday morning - Meet in the lobby at 7:30 a.m., we will pair people up to go out fishing for
the day. Most people will try and at least let others know where they are going so we don't
overcrowd one another.
- Saturday evening dinner is at 7:30pm at the Old Town Inn. Dinner is included but your drinks
will be yours to pay. Chapter would go broke if we paid for everyone's drinks....
- Sunday - People have varied schedules but some try to fish on their way home.
Weather varies this time of year up there; we have had weekends in the 70's, had a couple of years it
snowed. One year we had Graupel!! So, watch the weather and plan accordingly.
Gear:
- 4wt or 5wt rod with floating line.
- Flies – Streamers, Scuds, Pink Squirrels, BWO and Caddis dries, nymphs and emergers.
- Clothing – See weather note above. Bring layers for changing weather. You can always peel off
a layer if the weather warms up – cap, long johns and shirt, fleece vest or pullover, and a rain
jacket. If the weather is cold you might want to have gloves.
- Have a cooler for lunch and drinks
