Students raise trout, release them on Earth Day

April 20, 2012 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- Students from St. Margaret Mary School on Chicago's Far North Side took part in a fishy Earth Day celebration.

(Ed: This effort was sponsored by our chapter and has been spearheaded by Mike Jacobs from its inception.)

The students raised rainbow trout in their classroom since they were eggs, and Friday, they released them.

Friday, April 27, 2012 - Sunday, April 29, 2012

It may not seem like it outside, but Spring is almost here! And that means that the trout will be rising and the cheese curds will be frying up in the Driftless Area of Southwest Wisconsin. Take full advantage of the best fishing of the year in that part of the country by joining fellow Elliott Donnelley chapter members on our annual Spring Creek Trip. There are still spaces available, but we're filling up fast!

Fundraiser Recap

The final tally is in and our net profit was over $20,000. That's an 11% increase over 2010 and well exceeds our 2011 goal! That extra money will allow us to expand to some new conservation projects for the third year in row. As usual there are numerous folks who made this event a success and the generosity and participation was outstanding.

Thanks to all our donors, especially:
