About the event

CWTU is excited to continue our 2024 season of trout habitat restoration with our 4th Stream Conservation Workday of the year on Saturday, August 17th!  This is your chance, as members of Trout Unlimited, to see up close and personal the positive impact you can make on our local coldwater fisheries.  Working closely with our partners at the DNR, it's also a great way to learn more about trout habitat, trout fishing, and conservation in general.

The focus of our conservation work will be on the beautiful and easily accessible Bird Creek in Wautoma.  This is a special edition work day as attendees of our Trout Unlimited Youth Camp will be there to help and learn about trout habitat restoration and stream conservation.  This will be a large turnout event with likely 80-90 people in attendance. Other special guests include members of the DNR fish biology crew, who will once again be electro-fishing. You don't want to miss it!

The work site is at Bird Creek Park, located just behind Wautoma High School.  We will meet up just before 8:00 am at the Campbell Pavilion (pavilion further away from the splash pad). Look for the TU signs and our CWTU trailer as you enter the park.

Stream Conservation Days will continue to occur, weather permitting, on the 3rd Saturday of the month through September from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon (we recommend getting there 15 min. prior if possible).

We start with coffee and donuts in the morning and end each day with a full lunch and cold beverages, all provided by CWTU volunteers.  You will need waders (preferably an older pair), wading boots, and work gloves.  Hats and sunglasses are also highly recommended.  All are welcome, and we encourage you to bring a friend! Just remember to RSVP and let us know you're coming so we can plan accordingly.  Come on out and have some fun!
