Dear members and friends of CWTU,  

This is a reminder that Central WI Trout Unlimited will be holding our 2nd Stream Conservation Workday event of 2024 on Saturday, June 15th on the Mecan River!  We will once again focus our conservation work on the beautiful Mecan River at the Ice Age Trail site just off 9th Ave., near the town of Coloma. 

Probably the most well-known trout stream in central WI (for good reason) the Mecan is an excellent example of the unique coldwater fisheries we have available to us in the Central Sands region and is considered a premiere trout fishing destination.  

Stream Conservation Days will occur, weather permitting, on the 3rd Saturday of the month May through September from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon (we recommend getting there 15 min. prior if possible).  We start with coffee and donuts in the morning and end each day with a full lunch and cold beverages, all provided by CWTU volunteers.  You will need waders (preferably an older pair), wading boots, and work gloves.  Hats and sunglasses are also highly recommended.  All are welcome, and we encourage you to bring a friend. Come on out and have some fun!

Directions to the Mecan River conservation site off 9th Ave:  

Take Hwy 21 west from Wautoma to 9th Ave (9.1 miles). 

Travel north on 9th Ave. for approx. 250 feet to Ice Age Trail parking lot (Watch for TU signs!) 

Parking lot is on the east side of the road. 

Watch for the TU signs.
